☆ Cheering Stars ☆

Characters

Philomena is a student at the most prestigious school in Firefly Valley, one that she's worked hard to get into and has given her the chance to truly prove herself. Though, this is less of a chance she has wanted and more so something her parents have wanted for her. She doesn't mind though! She's happy to spend her time making them proud. Phil is pretty much unable to do anything for herself, always working hard and going out of her way to help other people, often forgetting to take care of herself in the meantime.

Juno is a very empathetic and lively star. They're young and naive and sees the best in everyone, humanizing even the worst of people in their head. Just like Philomena, they try their best to make everyone around them happy, being almost unable to see people upset or sad. They just feel for other people very deeply. (I can't talk a lot about them without spoiling things :-()

Humfrey is a star, the only star, actually who never went up to the sky. Instead, he remained on earth, ruling Firefly Valley and being the sole magic user. In fact, magic is outlawed, not that anyone knows how to use magic with no stars around anyway.

Marlene is a woman trapped inside of an astrolabe. I drew her very bored and uninterested here, but that's just because she doesn't like Humfrey. In reality, she's very passionate and full of wonder and whimsy, she misses the small things about not being trapped in outdated astrological equipment, but tries really hard to make the best of it.

The Story

NOT the story but here's the playlist :-)

The story follows the two protagonists, Juno and Philomena, after Phil accidentally makes a wish on a star that causes Juno to come down from the sky. From there the two not only realize that theres no magic on the earth--well, Juno realizes, Phill didn't think magic is real--the two begin a mission to restore it to the broken and sad world. All the while, Juno is trying to help Phil fufill her wish and the two bond and become friends... maybe more than friends.

Now not only does Phil have to worry about school and her family, she also has to deal with the dinky star boy from the sky (even if they're cute) and help him restore magic to the world--however they're supposed to do that. Despite the crushing weight of all this responsibilty, Philomena will find a way to manage. Hopefully.

World Building

(working on adding images)

The story takes place in a small, fictional town called Firefly Valley, which is built in a depression in the earth and surrounded by retaining walls (depicted above). Outside these walls is seemingly endless forest, except towards the South, where there are rocky cliffs that lead down to the ocean. There are steep stairs that lead down to docs there where the people of Firefly Valley can import or export goods.

Magic also used to be a defining feature of Firefly Valley. Long ago, Stars used to live in Firefly Valley, granting wishes to humans and teaching them how to harness their passions into magic so they could make their dreams come true.

Overtime though, humans became grew selfish and lazy, wanting Stars to simply grant their wishes without having to learn how to harness magic for themselves, causing Stars to retreat into the sky and for magic to disappear from the land.

That is, except for person who is able to still perform magic...
