story

The story begins when Ronnie, a sytoove from the mountains, ends up in the underground society of the geolics. From there we are introduced to Stolid, a stoic geolic who hates uhhh... everything???? Yeah sad man and joyfully whimsical adopted daughter trope SUE ME!!! This description sucks but I'll comes up with a better one later. This is basically the point though.

world building

(this is copy and pasted from my animation project I'll write a better one later...)

This story is set in a fantasy world inhabited by three main races: the sytooves in the mountains, the anthulls in the valley, and the geolics underground.

There's a lot of history and world building that's not necessarily important for this project, but if you would like to know you can read bout the geolics--the race that most of the story surrounds--here (theres no link lol)! I plan to write more about the other races on the same doc, but I just haven't gotten to organizing my thoughts about them.

For the purposes of understanding this project, all the knowledge that is required is that the three races used to all live together in the valley, but as resources became scarce, fighting broke out, with the more physically able anthulls driving out the geolics, who fled to underground caves and sytooves, who fled to the nearby mountains.

Geolic society is the most important to this story and thus the most developed. Their race is magic, and their magic comes from eyes. The more eyes one has, the more magical ability they have. This means that whoever has the most eyes at any given time is the designated leader of the geolic colony, but as they moved underground where there is little light, eyes have become less and less common, to the point where very little of the population has even one.

characters

Stolid is--as the name would imply--a very stoic and not a very outwardly emotional person. Having three eyes, he was set to become the leader of the geolic colony until tragically, on his 18th birthday, his eyes were gouged out of his head by an anthull, the result of him wandering a little too closely to the surface. Since then, Stolid has been graciously given the job as the president's right-hand man. Or that's what they say, everyone knows he's really just a glorified secretary. He does most of the work that involves talking to other people as the current president is very awkward and bad at talking to people.

Bedlam or... President Shragmen! That's right, this pathetic, sleep-deprived, sopping wet cat is the leader of the geolic colony, and Stolid's childhood best friend! Bedlam is awkward and disorganized, completely unqualified for his position, which makes sense since this was always meant to be Stolid's job. He does all the work (well, "does" might be a stretch, he has a lot of paperwork on his desk) of running the colony himself, unable to fill up any other government positions. He just can't find the right fit! Stolid is the only person who has remained employed by Bedlam for longer than two months. Nepotism! Yay!

Ronnie is a sytoove who has come down from the mountains for... some reason. I recently reworked her character, and actually have different project about it, so if you want more design notes go check that out. Ronnie is a bit of a creature; she doesn't talk much but seems to have a lot of energy. She unintentionally gets into trouble all the time; can't seem to communicate what she's thinking or feeling at any given time and struggles to connect with others, especially kids her age. She accidentally makes her way into the underground geolic colony and seeing as they don't want anyone knowing about their existence, they keep her there, with Bedlam putting Stolid in charge of her until further notice. Neither of them are happy with this arrangement. Ronnie thinks Stolid is grumpy, boring and very mean, and Stolid thinks Ronnie is an annoying baby. Despite this though, they bond and have a father-daughter like connection.

Fidelity (owned by Toasty!) is the third and final (well... for now) person in Stolid and Bedlam's friend group. Despite having no eyes she's forced her way into high society through working hard and through the connections that are her friends. She's a seamstress and fashion designer, owning her own shop and making clothes for those at the top of the geolic pecking order. She's often the voice of reason between the two idiot men that she's friends with and she frequently forces them to go to parties that they've been invited to and weren't planning on going to, just so they can take her. I love Fidelity my materialistic queen.

Mars (also owned by Toasty!) is in a way, the opposite of Fidelity. While she's wormed her way into a society that rejects her, Mars is a one-eyed hermit. He's plagued with visions of the future that range from seeing that someone will forget to brush their teeth to seeing a neighbor's death. The more cryptic and... scary visions when added with his awkward and anti-social demeanor have earned him quite the reputation, with rumors about him being spread in newspapers. He also works as a radio show writer, he gets paid half what everyone else does, he works in the janitor's closet, and his boss CANNOT remember his name. It seems like no one cares about his writing (heck, even he thinks it's bad with all this executive interference) but he does have ONE fan, I wonder who it could it be...

art

I know I have an art section that already has them in it... but theres so much of these characters since I've had them for so long that I really want to give them their own little place

nothings here yet but I have a comic uploaded *bats eyelashes*

Post 30/90 animatic comic, which dives into Stolid's... thoughts about his destiny to be the colony's leader. (some of the pages are low quality for no reason???)
